  As I was retrieving my mail today, I was shocked by a customer service void at the Weaverville Post Office. A man ran to the door at 4.29pm, as the postal worker was locking the door. Today is the last day to send in taxes. The customer asked if he could please post his letter & have it postmarked for today. The postal worker bluntly denied him & finished locking the door. Fortunately, there was another customer inside who at least was prepared to buy a stamp for this shocked & baffled customer - effectively taking the same time as if he had been allowed in - but the postmark will still be a day late because this postal worker, who chose a customer service job, wasn't prepared to take an extra 30 seconds to serve a legitimate need... and finish 30 seconds before the posted close time. I was dumbfounded. I've not seen such poor service since I was last at the DMV. I'm not sure this was poor customer service, as much as it was poor humanity. Come on US Post Service! You can do better than this. Even on a bad day.
